Planning a company picnic at Wardlow Park in Long Beach for 150 PS2 Inc. employees in July 2023 was all about embracing the "Summer Camp" theme. With wide-open green spaces, a baseball field, and plenty of room to spread out, Wardlow Park was the perfect venue to bring that nostalgic camp spirit to life. We rolled out our Field Day Games, adult picnic activities, and full-scale arts & crafts center, all while serving up a delicious BBQ catered lunch right at the park, prepared by our amazing chefs. It was a day full of laughter, connection, and memorable moments for the entire crew. Creating the Ultimate Summer Camp Vibes at Wardlow Park for PS2 Inc.’s Company PicnicWardlow Park was the perfect setting for this PS2 Inc. company picnic, providing ample space to bring the "Summer Camp" theme to life. The baseball field was an excellent spot for the friendly game of softball, but what truly made the park ideal was its expansive green spaces. These wide-open areas allowed us to set up everything for a full-on camp experience—from the fun Field Day Games and adult picnic activities to the catering, tables, and comfortable seating. With all the space to spread out, Wardlow Park helped create an atmosphere where employees could relax, bond, and dive into the playful spirit of summer camp all day long. BBQ Company Picnic Catering At Wardlow ParkThe food setup at this Wardlow Park company picnic kept the Summer Camp energy going strong, with our Economy Catering Package delivering a full, satisfying BBQ lunch prepared fresh onsite by our in-house chefs. This package is perfect for keeping things on budget without compromising flavor, presentation, or service. Everything was cooked and served from our custom-branded food service tents, with clear flagging to guide guests and a crew of efficient, friendly servers keeping lines moving and plates full. Grill-to-bun service featured juicy 1/3 lb Angus burgers and 100% all-beef hot dogs, along with Impossible burgers and vegan hot dogs for plant-based guests. We had two separate condiment stations—one dedicated to the hot dogs, fully loaded with chili, cheese, onions, relish, mustard, ketchup, and sauerkraut. The second station was all about the burgers, offering lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, cheese, mustard, and ketchup so every guest could build their perfect plate. Beverage stations were stocked with refreshing lemonade, filtered water, and sweet tea, giving everyone an easy way to stay cool and hydrated. To keep everything running smoothly, both the beverage and condiment stations were set up as satellite stations, ensuring a steady traffic flow. Guests could dress their food and grab drinks off to the side, keeping the main buffet line moving efficiently with high throughput. This setup allowed everyone to get their food quickly and spend more time enjoying the picnic rather than waiting in line. Summer Camp Style Team Building Picnic Games That Got Everyone Moving in Wardlow ParkNo Summer Camp-themed company picnic would be complete without a full-blown Field Day—and this one delivered. Our Field Day Games package transformed one of Wardlow Park’s wide-open green spaces into an action-packed competition zone. With over 50 games in our collection, we customized a lineup that kept the PS2 Inc. team moving, laughing, and bonding the entire afternoon. From classic relays to offbeat challenges with a twist, there was something for everyone—whether they were jumping into the action or cheering from the sidelines. We set the scene with our custom XTreme Competition Zone backdrop and mini stage, which gave us the perfect area to highlight the winners and snap some high-energy team photos. Our experienced host kept the momentum up, calling out game announcements, hyping the crowd, and handing out prizes throughout the event. With safety flagging clearly marking the play area, a wireless mic, and our surround sound setup, the field day zone stayed lively, organized, and running at full speed. It felt like stepping into a grown-up version of Summer Camp—with all the fun and none of the bug spray. Laid-Back Competition Meets Connection in Our Adult Company Picnic Activities ZoneWhile the Field Day zone was buzzing with team spirit, the Adult Fun Zone offered a different kind of energy—more laid-back, but just as interactive. This area was packed with adult picnic activities designed for friendly competition, conversation, and that satisfying mix of nostalgia and challenge. It was a shaded social lounge where coworkers could unwind, regroup, and go head-to-head in everything from strategy games to quick reflex showdowns. Guests rotated between stations testing memory in the Playback Memory Challenge, outsmarting coworkers in Life-Size Battleship, and mastering the art of the 3-Putt Golf Challenge. For those looking to dial in their hand-eye coordination, Revolution, Strike Zone bowling, and Ping Pong made sure the pace stayed high. Connect 4 and shuffleboard brought a more classic vibe, while Air Hockey and Giant Jenga kept things lively with plenty of laughter and smack talk. Corn Hole was a crowd favorite as always—easy to jump into, tough to master, and perfect for a little low-stakes rivalry. This area stayed full all day, and not just because of the shade. This adult social lounge was the go-to space for guests who wanted to relax, mingle, and still feel part of the Summer Camp buzz—with a twist made just for grown-ups. Summer Camp Company Picnic Arts & Crafts: Creating Memories One Bracelet at a TimeJust like any good Summer Camp, this company picnic had a creative corner where guests could slow things down and tap into their artistic side. Our Fun Zone included an arts & crafts station that brought out everyone’s inner camper. The bracelet-making table, stocked with colorful beads, string, and plenty of design inspiration, turned into a surprisingly popular hangout. Wardlow Park Company Picnic Gets a Magical Twist with Roaming EntertainmentFor a touch of unexpected magic, we brought in a roaming magician to add some interactive flair to the day. This unique live entertainment option was perfect for a smaller crowd like the 150 employees of PS2 Inc., allowing the magician to personally connect with guests throughout the picnic. With a four-hour window, he had ample time to work the crowd, engaging with people one-on-one and creating memorable moments that had everyone talking. Whether performing close-up tricks with cards, coins, or even small objects, the magician effortlessly wove his skills into the event, drawing in guests from all corners of the picnic. The surprise and wonder of watching someone pull off seemingly impossible feats of magic right in front of their eyes added a playful element to the atmosphere, giving everyone a shared experience they wouldn’t soon forget. Summer Camp-Themed Fun Foods to Satisfy Every Sweet Tooth at the PicnicA Summer Camp-themed company picnic wouldn’t be the same without a few indulgent treats to enjoy, and we made sure to deliver just that. The Fun Foods station was packed with classic favorites that brought an extra layer of excitement to the day. Funnel Cakes, dusted with powdered sugar and topped with fresh strawberries, were a huge hit—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and absolutely irresistible. To keep everyone cool under the sun, we also served up Shaved Ice with a selection of vibrant syrups. From fruity and tropical to traditional flavors, each guest could customize their icy treat to suit their mood. These nostalgic, fun-filled snacks added a perfect touch to the picnic, leaving everyone with full bellies and big smiles. Summer Camp Seating at Wardlow Park: Comfortable and Stylish Picnic SetupTo ensure that guests were comfortable while enjoying the summer sunshine and all the activities, we made sure to set up a cozy and practical seating area. The tables and chairs were strategically placed throughout Wardlow Park, allowing everyone to easily transition between food, games, and relaxation. Our 60” round tables, paired with 8 folding chairs, were the perfect size for socializing and enjoying the picnic spread with friends and colleagues. We also provided custom-fit red & white table covers that helped bring the Summer Camp theme to life while keeping the seating areas neat and inviting. The 9' market umbrellas added extra shade, ensuring that everyone had a comfortable spot to sit and take a break from the sun. This thoughtful setup helped maintain a smooth flow throughout the event and gave people plenty of opportunities to relax and connect with one another.
