Connecting 300 Employees Through Team Building & BBQ When Cordis asked us to plan a company picnic for 300 employees in their Irvine parking lot, we knew exactly how to deliver. Their all-inclusive package covered both the food and the entertainment, pairing a live-grill buffet with field games, sports challenges, and classic yard and table game matches so every guest had something to enjoy. Because Irvine is a booming commercial hub, we specialize in turning ordinary parking lots into exceptional picnic venues. This strategy cut venue costs for Cordis entirely, allowing them to reinvest that budget directly into better food, more activities, and employee incentives. The main food line ran under our matching BBQ Food Service tents, complete with custom table covers and wood-paneled signage wraps. To prevent the line from backing up, we put the Deluxe Fresh Condiment Station on its own standalone round table under a green umbrella. Employees grabbed their burgers and hot dogs from the main grills, then stepped away over to the umbrella station to grab their toppings. When the buffet opened at 12:30 PM, employees were able to move through efficiently so that they were not spending all their time in line for food and could enjoy themselves, the picnic, and their coworkers. Turning Asphalt into an Team Building ArenaIf you think a parking lot in the dead of August heat sounds brutal, you didn’t see what we did with it. From 1:30 to 3:30 PM, that asphalt turned into the ultimate arena for the Cordis picnic under our massive MEGA Field Games Competition tent. The energy was electric from the jump, thanks to our hilarious, high-octane host who kept the crowd hyped and rallied everyone into the action without breaking a sweat. We had teams diving into buckets for a wild water balloon toss, testing their aim at the axe throw and target boards, sinking short-game golf challenges, and squaring off in hockey slap shot and pickleball dink matches. Every single game wrapped up with massive cheers, high fives, and tickets in hand to redeem at the MEGA Prize Table. By 3:00 PM, the hype shifted right over to the dunk tank. Three brave volunteer bosses took the hot seat for 20-minute stretches, and the crowd absolutely loved watching them get soaked until 4:00 PM. This wasn't just a breakdown of games—it was a masterclass in team building. We saw people showing off hidden talents, building real work relationships outside the office, and getting a massive morale boost. Everyone was involved, and honestly, a great, unforgettable time was had by all. Sports That Offered More Ways to Compete Across the Lot While the MEGA Field Games owned the spotlight, the competitive fire didn't stop at the main tent. We took over the rest of the Cordis parking lot with a lineup of sports challenges that had everyone bringing their A-game. Over at the Sport Trio, teams got to flex their athletic skills by tackling three different sports challenges back-to-back. It was fast, it was sweaty, and it brought out some serious hidden talents from the Irvine crew. Right next to it, the Hoop Shot Duo turned into an absolute battleground for basketball bragging rights. Coworkers were lining up all afternoon, treating it like a high-stakes playoff game to finally settle the score on who had the best jumper in the office. Watching coworkers step out of their daily routines, laugh together, and compete for prize incentives is where the real value happens. These sports activities gave everyone a reason to cheer each other on, breaking down barriers and building genuine relationships. By the time the afternoon wrapped up, the Cordis team left the parking lot with higher morale, tighter connections, and a completely recharged team dynamic. Classic Table Games for Casual Team BuildingThe main field games were high energy, but we also set up a massive canopy tent to give everyone a break from the August sun without stopping the fun. Under the shade, we offered table games like ping pong, shuffleboard, giant Jenga, and Snake Pit. This tent ended up being the perfect spot for coworkers to chill out, grab a quick match on their way to the food line, and talk with people they don't get to see every day. It gave everyone a low-pressure way to stay involved in the picnic, grab some easy laughs, and keep connecting without having to run around in the heat. Cooling Off in the Hot Seat at the Dunk TankBy 3:00 PM, the entire group crowded around the dunk tank. We handled the 200 feet of water line access to keep it filled, and three brave volunteers stepped up to take the hot seat. Each manager took a 20-minute shift until 4:00 PM, giving everyone in the company a clear shot at dropping them into the water. There is nothing quite like the atmosphere of an entire office lining up, talking some smack, and exploding into cheers when someone finally hits the target. It gave the Cordis team a massive reason to stay late, crowd around, and laugh together, making it the perfect final event for the afternoon. Strategic Seating to Keep the Team ConnectedWe set up the outdoor seating area so nobody felt left out of the picnic. The tables were placed right between the food service area and the main activities, keeping the entire area compact and inclusive. Even if attendees were just sitting down to eat, they were still right in the middle of the picnic experience. Instead of traditional picnic tables, we purposely use 60-inch round tables with 8 chairs each. Round tables mean employees are actually facing one another, which is a great for conversation. Fitting larger groups at a single table saves money and it physically brings more people together, sparking conversations and helping coworkers build real relationships. To handle the sunny weather, every single table featured a 9-foot market umbrella for total shade. We spaced everything out perfectly, making it easy for attendees to move through the seating area with ease. Keeping This Irvine Company Picnics Affordable We worked closely with Cordis to deliver a complete parking lot company picnic experience that would stay on budget and without a doubt show their employees a great time, boost morale, build bonds, and make memories.
