Youth outreach event in Carson CA built around International Women’s Day featuring high-participation games, sports challenges, and a full parking lot event setup designed for continuous activity and flowWe had the pleasure of planning this Girls Empowerment Day, a youth outreach event, in honor of International Women’s Day for the YMCA of Greater Metropolitan Los Angeles at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The space was transformed into an active outdoor setup filled with sports attractions, interactive challenge stations, and inflatable games, all laid out across the parking lot to keep movement consistent and participation high throughout the event. Sports Attractions and Interactive Game StationsThis Girls Empowerment Day was built around a strong lineup of sports attractions and interactive game stations set throughout the parking lot at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The setup included Batter’s Up Baseball, Hoop Shot Duo, UBQB Duo, and the 3-in-1 Sports Trio, giving participants multiple ways to engage through familiar, sports-based activities across the event. Basketball and Football Challenge StationsBasketball and football challenges were a central part of the event, with Hoop Shot Duo and Connect Three Basketball providing a multi-hoop shooting experience while UBQB Duo and Field Goal Kick focused on passing accuracy and kicking skills. These stations created clear, recognizable activities that participants could jump into without needing instruction. Baseball and Accuracy-Based Sports ChallengesBaseball and precision-based activities added another layer to the event, with the 3-in-1 Sports Trio, Batter’s Up Baseball, and Strike Zone giving participants the chance to test timing, control, and accuracy. These types of stations worked well across all age groups and kept the activity mix balanced. Interactive Challenge Stations and Reaction-Based GamesBeyond traditional sports, the event also featured interactive challenge stations including Reaction Attraction, Air Racers, Single Lane Skeeball, Archery, Axe Throw, and Ring Toss. These stations introduced a mix of coordination, timing, and head-to-head competition, expanding the experience beyond standard sports play. Event Infrastructure and On-Site SetupBehind the scenes, this Girls Empowerment Day required a full event infrastructure setup to support the scale and layout of the parking lot area at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. From power distribution to shaded areas and hydration, every element was brought in and positioned to support both participants and the overall flow of the event. Water Stations were placed throughout the event space to keep participants hydrated during the day, while 10 x 20 White Tents provided shaded areas across key zones. Power was distributed using 9,500 Watt Generators and 3,500 Watt Whisper Generators, supporting multiple attractions across the lot including inflatables and specialty stations like the Money Machine and Soccer Darts. Additional setup elements such as Sandbags were used to secure equipment, and a Carpet Rental (green event carpet area) helped define specific zones within the event footprint. These foundational pieces are what allow a parking lot to be converted into a fully operational event space, supporting multiple activities at the same time. International Women’s Day Events at Dignity Health Sports Park 2025 and 2024This Girls Empowerment Day is part of an ongoing partnership with the YMCA of Greater Metropolitan Los Angeles, with this youth outreach event taking place at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California over multiple years.
