We had the privilege of providing our school field day games package for 675 students at Arlie F. Hutchinson Middle School in La Mirada, California on June 4, 2024. This school hadn't hosted a field day in the last 5 years. They sought to create a fun, interactive, and socially dynamic event for their middle school students, and that's exactly what we delivered. Our field day games package was customized to meet the specific ages and demographics of the Hutchinson Middle School attendees. This short recap video features their ASB coordinator explaining why she hired us as their school field day games organizer. Our all-inclusive package included everything they needed—no hassle, no fuss, and no surprise costs—giving them excellent value for their budget. Middle School Field Day Games in La Mirada, California – Hutchinson Middle SchoolWe were asked to assist Hutchinson Middle School in La Mirada with their first school field day since COVID. Their goal was to give students a full day of energetic, physical field day games that encouraged interaction, teamwork, and movement. The school is strongly committed to their Anti-Bullying program, and this event gave students the opportunity to connect through shared activities. Playing different games helped students build relationships and created a stronger sense of community. Running Multiple Field Day Game Stations at the Same TimeAfter their first initial contact with our team, we came out and did a site visit to see how we were going to lay out the field day games package. We decided that running them simultaneously would allow the students to be able to participate in everything in the given amount of time. We set up safety flagging to separate the different challenges and grouped the students evenly. Clear Audio Coverage Across the Field Day Games AreaWe strategically placed our speaker clusters to ensure even sound distribution across the field, allowing all the games to be heard clearly. By zoning the wireless microphones, we can control the audio output, enabling us to address the entire group or specific sections as needed. List of Outdoor Field Day Games for Middle School Students at HutchinsonSince every group is unique, we tailor the field day game activities to suit the age, demographics, and available time and space. Here is a list of some of the outdoor competitions we enjoyed with the students of Hutchinson Middle School in La Mirada: Sack Races🥔In a sack race, participants hopped forward in a large sack. They had to keep both feet inside the sack at all times and race to the finish line. The first person to cross the finish line without stepping out or falling out of the sack won the race. This competition encouraged balance, agility, and friendly competition among the students. Surf Slider Competition 🏄In the Surf Slider competition, one person pulled another on a sliding mat. The person on the mat had to stay balanced and remain on the mat throughout the event to finish. This activity challenged kid's coordination and teamwork skills while providing a fun and engaging way to promote balance and stability. Pop Fly Challenge ⚾In the "Pop Fly Challenge," teams of four were given a large bullseye to hold. They had to move around to catch the pop fly in the air on their target. If they caught it, they were awarded points based on where it landed on the bullseye. This challenge not only tested their hand-eye coordination and teamwork but also encouraged strategic thinking as they aimed to maximize their score with each catch. Ring of Fire 🔥In the "Ring of Fire" game, participants used two hoops and had to step inside one hoop at a time, moving from side to side. If they stepped outside of the hoop, they were eliminated from the game. They alternated stepping into each hoop until they reached the end of the course. This game challenged participants' agility and concentration while fostering a competitive spirit and emphasizing the importance of staying focused under pressure. Sprocket Races🌀Sprocket races involved teams of 3 inside a large, flexible vinyl wheel, working together to move forward in unison. The teams were separated by colors, which added to the fun of the activity. This game promoted teamwork and coordination among the students, encouraging them to communicate effectively and collaborate towards a common goal. Tug O' War 🤼In the tug of war competition, two teams pulled on opposite ends of a rope, aiming to pull the opposing team across a line. This activity fostered teamwork as students coordinated efforts, communicated strategies, built trust in teammates, and solved problems together. It promoted bonding through shared challenges, helping students develop camaraderie and stronger peer relationships. Frisbee Toss 🥏In Frisbee Toss, middle school students aimed to throw a frisbee into a metal target. The objective was for students to strategize and navigate their throws, testing their accuracy, distance control, and decision-making skills. It was a fun and challenging game that promoted hand-eye coordination and friendly competition among peers. We also played other outdoor field games such as water balloon toss, switcharoo, cup stacking, and various activities that encouraged friendly competition and helped build relationships among the students.
